Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal

Movie Suggestions:

Ingredients: At the focal point of this movement, and of this film, are the farmers and chefs who are creating a truly sustainable food system. Their collaborative work has resulted in great tasting food and an explosion of consumer awareness about the benefits of eating local.

Fast Food Nation: The film Fast Food Nation is based on facts presented in the non-fiction book of the same name written by Eric Schlosser. The book is a scathing indictment of the fast food industry. In an usual move, director Richard Linklater has attempted to integrate these facts into a drama

Food Inc: In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that's been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment.

Fresh: FRESH is more than a movie, it’s a gateway to action. Our aim is to help grow FRESH food, ideas, and become active participants in an exciting, vibrant, and fast-growing movement.

What's Organic About "Organic": rings the alarm for the need to develop an ecological consciousness.  The film illustrates that the organic food debate extends well beyond personal choice and into the realm of social responsibility. Our hat's off to the movie maker, Shelley Rogers--she's from our hometown, Greeneville, TN!
